High School swimming roundup, Oct. 22-24: Cape Central's Phineas Theall medals at Springfield Invitational

Cape Central sophomore Phineas Theall medaled in the 500-yard freestyle at Saturday's Springfield Invitational at Hickory Hills Middle School.

Theall finished fourth in the race with a time of 5:01.74.

In addition, Theall took seventh place in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in 53.82 seconds.

The Tigers finished 18th out of the 24 team field.

Jackson tops Farmington in dual meet

The Jackson swim team edged Farmington in a dual meet, beating the Knights 79-67 on Monday.

Sophomore Wade Lavalle picked up a pair of wins in the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard freestyle, while freshman Jan Handke picked up wins in the 200-yard individual medley and 500-yard freestyle.

Handke teamed up with junior Jace Glenn, who won the 200-yard freestyle, and freshmen Kevin Cai and Lucas King to win the 200-yard medley relay.

Indians senior Kelton Horrell also won his event, finishing the 100-yard backtroke in first place with a time of 1:10.20.
