High School volleyball roundup, Oct. 6: Jackson rolls over Oakville on “Pink Out” night

Jackson (21-3-3) swept visiting Oakville on the Indians’ “Pink Out” night, winning 25-9, 25-20, 25-13.

Sophomore Katy St. John led the Indians with 12 kills, while junior Holland Guilliams led the defense with 12 digs.

Jackson takes part in the Jackson Invitational Tournament on Saturday, while Oakville next hosts Northwest (19-7) at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Notre Dame 3, Saxony Lutheran 2

Notre Dame (16-5-3) took down Saxony Lutheran (17-4-2) at home on Thursday, winning 25-18, 15-25, 25-12, 21-25, 15-11.

Notre Dame’s offense was led by freshman Claudia Jones’ 25 assists and classmate Kate Rubel’s 14 kills. Senior Anna Garner’s 37 digs led the Bulldogs defensively.

Notre Dame plays in the Lutheran South tournament on Saturday, while Saxony Lutheran hosts Kennett (12-16-4) at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Scott City 3, Woodland 2

Scott City (22-8-3) got a five-set win over Woodland (6-15-1) on Thursday, winning 25-18, 26-28, 25-20, 21-25, 15-13.

Senior Avarie O’Brien led the Rams with 16 kills, while sophomore Ramsey Spinks led with 25 assists. Sophomore Journey Black’s 11 digs led in the backcourt, while sophomore Lilyan Landis led up front with six blocks.

Senior Caroline Rhodes led the Cardinals with 21 kills, while junior Rhodie Long led with 36 assists. Sophomore Mallary Barks and senior Hailey Brotherton tied with 19 digs each.

Scott City hosts New Madrid County Central (8-15-2) on Tuesday, while Woodland next takes part in the SCAA Conference Tournament beginning on Monday.

Cape Central 3, Kennett 0

Cape Central (14-13-1) took down Kennett (12-16-4) at home on Thursday, beating the Indians in three sets, 25-8, 25-21, 25-8.

The Tigers’ offense was led by sophomore Ella Hukel’s 14 assists and junior Madison Phelps’ 10 kills. Defensively, junior Avery Criblez led the Tigers with eight digs.

Cape Central next hosts Farmington (18-5-1) at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while Kennett plays at 6:30 p.m. on Monday at Saxony Lutheran (17-4-2).
