High School softball roundup, Oct. 4: Jackson's ten between fourth, fifth innings fuel mercy-rule win

Jackson (18-12) got a big late-game surge to push past North County (7-14) 13-3 on Tuesday.

Sophomore Kimmora Carothers led Jackson’s offense with four hits – including a two-run home run – three RBIs, a walk and two runs scored. Both Maddie Stelling and Ashlyn Dawes finished with two-hit, two-RBI games.

Jackson hosts Seckman (15-9) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while North County advances to play at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at 7-14 Jefferson.

Farmington 10, Chaffee 0

Farmington (21-8) took a lopsided five-inning, 10-0 win over Chaffee (13-9), scoring all 10 runs through the first three innings at Farmington High School.

Chaffee got just two hits in the game, one from sophomore Reese Van Pelt and the other from senior Paige Stevens.

Farmington plays at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Sikeston (7-15), while Chaffee plays at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday at 8-10 Fredericktown.
