PERRYVILLE, Mo. — The Perryville Pirates showed little sign of a slump on Monday night.

Following a pair of losses to Windsor and cross-town rival St. Vincent — the Pirates' only losses of the season — Perryville picked up a 1-0 victory against visiting Notre Dame at The Bank of Missouri Soccer Complex.

"This team came back after two bad losses where we wouldn't go to the ball and for some reason," Pirates coach Jerry Fulton said. "Today was a day that we got to the ball, I felt like, from the first whistle on."

Sophomore goalkeeper Brooklyn Moll played a big part in the Pirates' victory, making seven saves to earn the Pirates' eighth shutout of the season.

"Brooklyn has been solid all year," Fulton said. "The two losses that we had were not her fault. She has played very well."

Moll credited the Pirates' defense for making her job a bit easier against the Bulldogs' offense.

"I feel like our defense performed very well," Moll said. "Whenever we play a team that likes to send those through balls, our defense really knows how to help me out so it's not so chaotic."

Moll also admitted to having a bit of an incentive to record a shutout.

"My family and I are going to Florida for vacation," Moll said, "and my dad said if I get a shutout then I can go parasailing."

After a scoreless first half, the Pirates finally broke through when sophomore Cloey Richardet —assisted by junior Rachel Riney — found the back of the net with 20:07 remaining in the game.

"That's Cloey's zone," Fulton said. "She had a couple of other chances from there and she sailed them. She got over the top of that one and drove it in. and whenever Choey has the ball at the top of the box, we're always wanting her to shoot it because she has a really good, hard line drive."

After snapping their two-game losing streak, Moll feels good about where the Pirates are two weeks away from districts.

"I feel like we're pretty prepared," Moll said. "We can definitely handle it. I'm excited. We're all really excited."

Perryville (13-2-1) travels to Hillsboro on Thursday.

Notre Dame (10-4-1) — which had been on a five-game winning streak prior to Monday's loss — is set to travel to cross-town rival Cape Central next Monday.
