Boys Basketball Roundup, Jan. 14: Richland uses depth to beat North Pemiscot 84-47

Four Richland players scored in double figures, leading the Rebels to an 84-47 victory over North Pemiscot on Friday night at Wardell.

Damon Ivy scored a team-high 28 points, Eric Williams had 15, Matt Finch 13 and Jaden Pope 10.

North Pemiscot’s Christian Curtright scored a game-high 33 points but none of his teammates scored more than five.

Richland erupted for 32 points in the opening quarter to take a commanding 32-14 lead into the second.

North Pemiscot (4-9) will host Clarkton in a Tri-County Conference matchup at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Richland (5-8) will host Leopold at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Essex.

Malden 69, Bloomfield 58

The Malden Green Wave made a statement after halftime in Friday night’s 69-58 victory over Bloomfield at Malden High School.

Six different players scored in the third quarter where the Green Wave outscored Bloomfield 23-14 to increase a two-point halftime lead to 54-43 entering the fourth.

Malden grabbed a 15-8 lead after one quarter, but the Wildcats rallied to slice the lead to 31-29 at halftime.

Quamareous Farmer paced Malden with a game-high 19 points, D’Angelo Austin added 16 and Marcus Burton had 10.

Dawson Hill paced Bloomfield with 16 points, including three 3-pointers, and James Barks had 11.

Bloomfield (3-8) will host Bernie in an SCAA game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bloomfield High School.

Malden (8-6) will face Hayti in a Bootheel Conference game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hayti High School.

Scott City 65, Clarkton 49

Scott City sophomore point guard Mark Panagos continued his hot streak, scoring 18 points to lead the Rams to a 65-49 win over Clarkton on Friday at Scott City High School.

Panagos was one of four Rams to score in double figures. Logan Speakman scored 16 points, and Kaleb Karrenbrock and Colin Blaylock added 13 points each in the victory.

The Rams, who have won four games in a row after losing six straight, pulled ahead at the end of the first quarter by 14 points but an 18-8 second quarter by the Reindeer pulled Clarkton to within five at halftime.

Scott City came out hot in the second half, scoring 24 points on the Reindeer in the third quarter to take a 55-39 lead going into the final eight minutes.

Caleb Punkett led Clarkton with 15 points followed by Owen Morgan who finished with 15.

Scott City (5-6) will look to keep its streak going on Monday when the Rams host East Prairie at 7:30 p.m.

The Reindeer (7-5) will travel to North Pemiscot on Monday to take on the Mustangs at 6 p.m.

Jarid Frymire led all scorers with 23 points to lead the Woodland Cardinals over host Meadow Heights 82-66 on Friday night.

After Meadow Heights took a 17-15 lead after one quarter, Woodland kicked it into another gear, outscoring the Panthers 32-9 in the second quarter and dominating the rest of the game.

The Cardinals also received double-figure scoring from Trent Braswell (14 points), Nate Ware (12 points) and Lane VanGennip (11 points), who have one seven games in a row.

Meadow Heights was led by Tristen Mayfield who scored 20 points, followed by Chase Conrad with 13 and Will Green with 10 points.

Woodland (9-6) will look for its eighth straight win at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday as the Cardinals travel to Bell City.

The Kennett Indians pulled out a 52-51 home victory Friday night over Notre Dame to end a five-game losing streak.

Kennett received a team-high 19-point performance by senior Ben McMullan and 11 points from Kamden Crafton.

The Indians jumped all over the Bulldogs in the first quarter, outscoring Notre Dame 18-6. The Bulldogs would fight back with consecutive 17-point quarters to pull within three points going into the fourth quarter.

Although Notre Dame outscored Kennett 11-9 in the fourth, the Bulldogs came up one-point short.

Notre Dame junior Greg Dennis scored a career-high 22 points in the loss, followed by 12 points from Will Henry Steward and 10 from Reece Callow.

Notre Dame coach Paul Unterreiner was without the services of his top three leading scorers Quin Hunter, Drew Vandeven and Blake Anderson, who were unable to play on Friday.

Kennett (4-10) will host Kelly at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Notre Dame (5-8) will travel to Saxony Lutheran to play the Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Cole Barnfield and Scyler Zimmerman each provided 12 points and David Holyfield added 11 in the win for Puxico (8-4), which will host Dexter at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Tigers were led by senior Ethan Muse who scored 24 points, while Ryley Armes added 17.

The Jackson Indians lost to Eureka 60-56 in the third-place game of the Lindbergh Flyer Invitational Tournament in St. Louis on Thursday.

Jackson got a game-high offensive performance from Clayton Ernst and Nick Wasilewski who each scored 16 points each.

Sophomore Blayne Harris also reached the double-figure mark with 13 points.

The Indians (8-7) will play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Poplar Bluff in a SEMO Conference showdown.
