SAN ANTONIO — Southeast Missouri State junior guard Chris Harris knows how to end a game dramatically.

Tied with Incarnate Word at 76, Harris hit his only 3-point basket of the game at the final buzzer to lift the Redhawks past the Cardinals 79-76 on the opening day of the Incarnate Word Thanksgiving Classic.

Harris — who went 1-for-5 from 3-point range — scored 13 points off the bench for the Redhawks on 2-of-8 shooting from the field and going 8-of-9 from the free-throw line.

The Redhawks nearly gave the game away after leading by nine points with 11:39 left on the clock. Incarnate Word went on a 17-8 run to tie the game 64-64.

With the game winding down, Cardinals guard R.J. Glasper capitalized on a SEMO turnover to tie the game at 76 with 19 seconds remaining. Freshman guard Phillip Russell missed a jump shot on the Redhawks' next possession, but the ball was lost out of bounds to give SEMO another opportunity.

Eric Reed Jr. paced SEMO with 23 points, four rebounds, two steals and one assist. The junior guard went 9-for-15 from the field, including 4-for-8 from beyond the arc, but missed two of his three free-throw attempts.

Nate Johnson was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field off the bench, contributing 14 points to SEMO's cause. In addition, the 6-foot-9 junior grabbed four rebounds, recorded two steals and two blocks in just 14 minutes of play.

Russell was the remaining Redhawk to score in double figures with 10 points. The freshman guard also had two rebounds and two steals in the game.

The win over Incarnate Word lifts SEMO to 3-2 on the season. The Redhawks will face Portland (5-2) at 2 p.m. Saturday on the second day of the Incarnate Word Thanksgiving Classic.
