Catfish fall to O'Fallon despite outhitting Hoots

The Cape Catfish attempted to rally late in the game against the O'Fallon Hoots but were unable to produce enough runs to overcome their rival on Friday night at CarShield Field.

The Catfish recorded four more hits than the Hoots (23-14), but ultimately lost 9-6.

Catfish outfielder Ellison Hannah II hit his team-high seventh home run of the year - a two-run shot in the eighth. Hannah went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs - a stat he also leads the team in.

Andrew Stone also went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double in a solid outing.

Giovanni Del Negro and DJ Wright had two RBIs apiece. Del Negro had just one hit in the game in five attempts and Wright went 2-for-4, striking out twice.

Cape pitcher Kyle Potthoff picked up his third loss of the year. The Missouri product tossed 5 1/3 innings, allowing seven hits and six earned runs while striking out five.

The Catfish (23-15) return home Saturday for a two-game weekend series against the Quincy Gems (19-17).
