13 Semoball area athletes qualify for Class 1 Track and Field Championships

Thirteen athletes representing five schools from the Semoball coverage area qualified for the MSHSAA Class 1 Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Mokane.

Athletes earned trips to state with top-four finishes in the Sectional 1 meet at South Callaway High School.

Delta’s Kendall Holweg (4), Van Buren’s Katie Griffin (3), Delta’s Hannah Bond (2) Richland’s Bailee Hux (2) and Zalma’s Trey Clark (2) qualified in multiple events.

Holweg won four events (100, 200, high jump, long jump). Hux won the shot put and discus throw. Clark won the 300 hurdles. Griffin won the 400, and Bo Lacy, of Bell City, won the discus throw.

The Class 1 meet is scheduled for Saturday at Adkins Stadium at Jefferson City High School with events beginning at 11 a.m.

100 hurdles: 2, Hannah Bond, Delta, 17.90.

300 hurdles: 2, Hannah Bond, Delta, 50.28.

4x100: 2, Delta (Blattel, White, Berry, Hampton), 56.42.

High jump: 1, Kendall Holweg, Delta, 1.46m.

Long jump: 1, Kendall Holweg, Delta, 4.80m.

Shot put: 1, Bailee Hux, Richland, 11.42m.

Discus: 1, Bailee Hux, Richland, 35.92m.

Javelin: 3, Presley Holweg, Delta, 31.16m.
