Boys golf roundup, March 25: Dexter wins four-team match; Bloomfield places second

Senior Ryan Collier produced a match-best 1-over 37, and the Dexter boys golf team swept the competition in a triple dual match Wednesday at Hidden Trails County Club.

Dexter finished with 165, Bloomfield was second with 206, Caruthersville was third with 228 and Malden was fourth with 250.

Here are all the scores from the match:

DEXTER: Ryan Collier 37, Dylan Sitze 40, Cy Worley 40, Kenton Pope 48 and Matt Hardin 59.

BLOOMFIELD: Dawson Hill 49, Jeffrey Jarrell 49, Nathan Lockhart 52 and Bryant Vaughn 56.

CARUTHERSVILLE: Jackson Holder 51, Carter Long 56, Trey Thompson 57 and Brent Ayers 64.

MALDEN: Alissa Olson 51, Jacob Kooyman 61, Nolan Asher 66 and Raul Garcia 72.

Indians take top spot

Notre Dame golfer Chase Logel won the battle among area athletes on Wednesday at Kimbeland Country Club however Jackson won the war.

Logel earned medalist honors by shooting an even par 9-hole round of 35, while the Indians claimed the team win with a total score of 158.

“I thought the boys did a pretty good job,” Jackson coach Zack Walton said of his team’s first outing of the spring. “Everybody would like to shoot two or three strokes better, but that is just golf.”

The Indians outshot the Bulldogs (166), while Saxony Lutheran and Cape Central each notched rounds of 206.

Southern Illinois recruit Carsen Silliman led Jackson with a round of 37, while Bryce Norman (39), Nate Schlitt (40), Evan Adams (42), Avey Hume (45), and Jake Miller (42) followed.

Beau Traxel shot a round of 45 for Notre Dame, while Quin Hunter (42), Cooper Stewart (44), Liam Green (50), and Sam Floyd (48) also fared well.

Cape Central got a round of 47 out of Ethan McMillan, while Evan Dombrowski (54), Bryce Blair (61), Max Vogel (49), Manny Kinder (56), and Kent Elder (58) also competed.

Saxony was led by Abby Ruehling with a round of 49, while Andrew Buxton (50), Michael Hasz (59), Gavin Boehm (54), Garrett Lichtenegger (60), and Caleb Hasz (53) followed.

All four squads will venture to Dalhousie Golf Club on Monday at 11 a.m. for the Notre Dame Invitational.
