Girls Basketball Roundup: Feb. 7: Thayer makes enough free throws to hold off Dexter 42-41

The Thayer girls basketball team converted at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and held off the Dexter Bearcats 42-41 Saturday at the Libla Family Sports Complex in Poplar Bluff.

The Bobcats (7-7) went 4-for-7 from the free-throw line in the fourth, while Dexter (9-11) went 0-for-3. Overall, they outscored Dexter 13-7 from the line.

Dexter’s Dulcie Pullen scored a game-high 29 points, and Karlee Keirsey added eight, including two 3-pointers.

Madyson Kerley paced Thayer with 23 points.

Thayer held quarter leads of 13-8, 23-17 and 36-35.
