Woodland girls head basketball coach Paul Lynch saw his team win their fifth game in a row, handing Scott City their eighth loss of the season, Tuesday, in a 54-52 ultra-close contest.

The Cardinals found themselves up by 10 points going into the fourth quarter but quickly realized the Rams had no quit in them whatsoever, with Kaicie Dagger leading her Rams with nine points in the final quarter.

Scott City outscored Woodland 19 to 11 to make the outcome razor-thin.

Daigger finished with a team-high 16 points but couldn't command her team the comeback win.

Woodland (10-8) got a game-high 17 points from junior Chloe Goodwin.

Seniors Destinee Cowell and Emma Brown also found double figures in points, with Brown finishing with 11 and Cowell totaling 10 points.

Scott City (5-8) also had help offensively from Liza Dannenmueller who scored 13 points in the loss.

Woodland will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Scott County Central with play starting at 6 p.m.

Coach Curtis Finley's Scott City team will head to Bloomfield looking to turn things around Thursday at 6 p.m.
