Boys Basketball Roundup, Feb. 2: Meadow Heights dominates early, destroys Marquand, 100-31
In the opening round of the MVC Tournament Monday, Meadow Heights led from the opening tip, outscoring Marquand (0-7) 55 to 17 at halftime, and continued their assault toward the century mark, beating the Tigers, 100-31.
The Panthers stretched their lead to 57 points by the end of the third quarter.
Meadow Heights had five players in double figures, as Tristen Mayfield paced the offensive onslaught with 29 points.
Morgan Lincoln and Chase Conrad connected for 13 points each, Kolby Wilfong added 12 points and Will Green finished with 11 points.
For Marquand, Tim Clippard led the offense with 11 points.
Clippard was the only Tiger in double figures.
Meadow Heights (13-7) will play host Zalma in the second round of the tournament today at 6 p.m.
Marquand will play Leopold today at 7:30 p.m.

Leopold had three players that scored over 20 points, including Mason Deck who scored 23 points and scored his 1,000th point in the game.
Deck also grabbed 13 rebounds.
Caleb Schaab led the Wildcats in scoring with 26 points and Conner Lincoln added 20 points.
For Zalma, Eli Ford paced the Bulldogs with 33 points while Nate Ware added 18 points.
Leopold led 27 to 15 after the end of one, 53 to 34 at halftime, and 80 to 53 at the end of quarter three.
Leopold (11-7) will play Marquand today in the second round of the MVC Tournament while Zalma will play Meadow Heights.

Risco 63, Puxico 54
Kamron Meese put up a game-high 28 points to help the Risco Tigers edge the Puxico Indians 63-54 Monday night.
Host Risco led 22-19 at the end of the first quarter and increased its lead to 30-26 by halftime before Puxico won the third quarter by three points to cut the deficit to 40-39 by the start of the fourth quarter. Risco won the final eight minutes of play 23-15 to escape with a nine-point win.
Meese hit three treys in each half.
Hayden Ludwig also scored in double digits for Risco. He put up a dozen points on six 2-point field goals.
Dalton Andrews and Braxton Bridges paced Puxico with 21 and 16 points respectively.
Puxico hosts Bernie Tuesday.
Risco (6-11) hosts North Pemiscot Tuesday.
