Girls Basketball Roundup, Jan. 19: Advance's Below nets 24 enroute to rout of Charleston

Alandry Below scored a game-high 24 points and two other Advance Hornets scored in double figures as Advance pulled away from Charleston in the last three quarters, winning at home in dominating fashion Monday 63-38 to win their fifth in a row.

Kaylee Cline helped the cause for the Hornets scoring 15 points and Danielle Markham added 12 points in the victory.

Markham also recorded a game-high 13 assists.

Advance found themselves down to the visiting Blue Jays at the end of the first quarter, 15-13, but outscored Charleston 50-23 the rest of the way.

Natalee Roper added six points in the win for the Hornets while Ashtin Fowler added three points, Ella Shirrell scored two points and Molly Freed added one point.

Advance(11-4) will host undefeated Delta(9-0) today at 7:30 p.m.

Kelly 70, Scott City 40

Senior Alaney Moore scored a game-high 30 points, including 10 each in the second and third quarters, leading Kelly past Scott City Monday 70-40.

Aleya King and Jada Griggs also scored in double figures for the Hawks totaling 12 points and 11 points respectively.

Kelly led at the end of the opening quarter 17-12, 34-22 after two quarters, and 56-25 at the end of the third, only allowing three points scored the entire third period by the Rams.

Kacie Daigger led Scott City(3-6) offensively with 12 points while Aleah Merrill added eight in defeat.

Kelly(9-6) will host Oak Ridge Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. while Scott City will host Scott County Central Thursday at 7:30 p.m.

Ste. Genevieve 49, Notre Dame 43

Notre Dame has lost their last three out of four games since January 9th, losing their third game of the season Monday at home to the hands of the 10-4 Ste. Genevieve Dragons, 49-43.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 16-12 lead by the end of the opening quarter, with Notre Dame hitting four, 3-point shots in the period.

The second quarter would belong to Ste. Genevieve, as they outscored the Bulldogs 15-3, shutting down Notre Dame's offense.

The only points scored in the second frame was a three-point shot by Leah Jansen.

The host Bulldogs would come back in the third frame, outscoring the Dragons 9-6 but would again be outscored in the last quarter, 16-15.

Each team had three players record double-digit scoring, as Notre Dame was led by Kristin Edmonds, Lexi Rubel, and Leah Jansen who netted 14, 12, and 10 points respectively.

Edmonds made four, 3-point field goals in the game while Rubel grabbed a game-high 14 boards in defeat.

Notre Dame(8-3) will try and turn things around Thursday when the Bulldogs host rival Jackson on Homecoming night at 7:30 p.m.

St. Vincent 37, Chaffee 31

Lacy Best scored a team-high 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead St. Vincent past Chaffee Monday, 37-31.

The Indians and Red Devils were knotted at 16 points each at halftime but St. Vincent pulled away late in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Addie Cates added seven points for the 8-4 Indians while Lola Dauster scored six points, Genevieve Lipe pitched in five points, and Reese Barber added four points.

Barber also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds

St. Vincent will travel to Meadow Heights today to play the 4-8 Panthers at 7 p.m.

NMCC 77, Delta 59

After a slow start, NMCC picked up the pace midway through the first quarter in its decisive victory over Delta Monday.

The Lady Eagles led 30-10 after the period and 47-27 at halftime, in its 77-59 win.

Senior Alivia Hartman led NMCC with 24 points, while senior Shakyra Wright added 20 and senior Tylei Wofford-Byrd 18.

Kendall Holweg led Delta with 22 points, while Sierra Berry added 11.
