Cooter boys basketball squad in search of repeat district title

The Cooter Wildcats are coming off a very successful 2019-2020 season, where they finished with a record of 17-9, a Class 1 District 1 Championship and a berth in the Class 1 Sweet Sixteen.

The Wildcats are a young team consisting of a lot of sophomore and freshmen but head coach David Mathis will not let that hold them back. Mathis stated,

“(There is) no excuse on being young," Mathis said. "We have to get that…get off the bus and go after people for thirty-two minutes. This group has always been winners in every sport. They know how to win so keeping that mindset will be key. We hope to apply pressure and outwork people. That’s our program’s motto and backbone!”

Cooter opens its season Thursday when it hosts North Pemiscot.
