Baseball Roundup, Sept. 19: Cooter and Malden get doubleheader sweeps

Cooter 10, Twin Rivers 3

Cooter beat Twin Rivers 10-3 Saturday.

Andy Carrillo earned a complete game victory on the hill for Cooter. He allowed five hits, three earned runs, struck out two, and walked zero in an 84-pitch seven-inning outing.

Gabriel Harris drove home two runs for Cooter. Hayden Nazarenus, Andy Carrillo, Luke Perkins, Rhoads Lynn, Carson Swan, and Tyson Banks each recorded one RBI for Cooter.

Carter Williams and Jacob Guess each drove home a run for Twin Rivers.

Cooter 7, South Pemiscot 6

Cooter edged South Pemiscot 7-6 Saturday.

Cooter led 3-1 after one inning before South Pemiscot tied things up at three-all in the third frame. Cooter moved ahead 7-3 with one run in the fifth inning and three more runs in the sixth inning. South Pemiscot added three more runs in the top of the seventh inning but finished a big hit shy of catching Cooter.

The middle of the Cooter order provided most of its offense. No. 3 hitter Hayden Nazarenus finished 3 for 3 with two RBIs, cleanup hitter Gabriel Harris went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, and No. 5 hitter Luke Perkins had a hit and two RBIs.

Steve Henley had a home run and three RBIs for South Pemiscot. Luke Southern drove home two runs and Zach Southern plated another run for South Pemiscot.

Malden 6, Risco 0

Malden beat Risco 6-0 in Game 1 of a home doubleheader Saturday.

Trey Miller pitched four scoreless innings and Easton Randl pitched three scoreless innings for Malden against Risco. Neither pitcher allowed a hit.

Dylan Bader was 2 for 3 with one RBI and Carter Stewart was 2 for 3 with two RBIs against Risco

Malden 7, Holcomb 1

Malden beat Holcomb 7-1 in Game 2 of a doubleheader Saturday.

Griffin Riley collected a complete game win. He allowed one unearned run, struck out six, and walked one in seven innings pitched.

Ethan Campbell finished 2 for 2 and Riley was 1 for three with three RBIs for Malden.

South Pemiscot 14, Twin Rivers 0

South Pemiscot beat Twin Rivers 14-0 Saturday.

Brevin Carlisle and Ashton Thompson both drove home three runs for South Pemiscot. Jade Morton Trevan Shuburte, Luke Southern, Zach Southern, Beau Rinehart, and Trey Fikes each plated one run for South Pemiscot.

Thompson pitched all three innings. He allowed one hit, struck out two, and walked two.

Twin Rivers statistics were unavailable.
