Softball Roundup, Sept.10: Chaffee improves to 2-2, shuts out Saxony Lutheran

Chaffee scored nine runs in the bottom half of the first inning to set the tone early and would never falter as they won going away 12-0.

The Devils ran three more across the plate in the fourth frame to push the final tally to 12.

The Lady Devil offense was paced by leadoff hitter Abby Cowell. She recorded two hits in three at-bats, scoring twice and finished with three RBI.

Jayden Welch had a nice game as well, recording two hits and adding two RBI to her season total.

Lauren Wagoner was stellar on the mound for Chaffee. She hurled a complete game shutout, only relinquishing six Crusader hits . She would strike out four and walk none.

Saxony Lutheran(2-4) did produce six hits but did not muster one run across the plate.

Kennedy Biri had two hits in her two plate appearances for the Crusaders.

Makayla Braeuner, Bryanna Hale, Jayden Buerck, and Alice Hogendobler supplied the other four hits, recording one hit each.

Chaffee will host a round-robin with Doniphan, Fredericktown, and Twin Rivers on Saturday. Game times are TBA.

Saxony Lutheran visits Fredericktown Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Twin Rivers 8, Neelyville 5

Twin Rivers jumped on host Neelyville early, scoring two runs in the first inning, two more runs in the third, and two more in the fourth, to down the Tigers Thursday.

The additional Royal runs were scored in the fifth and seventh innings.

Neelyville’s Lexus Hagood lead the offensive attack going three for three with a run batted in. Mackenzie Cordell recorded two RBI in the loss.

Twin Rivers(2-1) hosts Sikeston on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Neelyville(1-2) will try and right the ship against Twin Rivers next Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
