Volleyball Roundup, Aug.31: Holcomb sweeps Hayti

Holcomb dominates Hayti to improve to 2-0 on the young season, defeating the Indians 3 sets to zero.

The Hornets came out on fire, torching the nets to best the Indians 25-6 in the first set. The Hornets would best the Indians the final two frames also, outscoring them 25-10 and 25-7.

Hannah Burk was Holcomb’s star of the night, serving up 15 aces.

Abby Hellebusch would add nine kills and also record 5 serve aces as well.

The Hornets host North Pemiscot Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Scott City 2, Malden 0

It was all Scott City in an early season girls volleyball matchup with host Malden.

The Rams would win the first set easily 25-14.

The second set the Green Wave would bring the fight but would eventually succumb 25-22.

Senior Jersey Black would star and record 13 serve aces.

Scott City will host Fredericktown Wednesday at 7 pm.

Malden will look for their first win today as they travel to Hayti.

Campbell 3, Portageville 0

The Campbell varsity volleyball team opened its season by beating Portageville 25-3, 25-14, 25-11 Monday.

Alexis Pounds served 14 times for Campbell, collecting two aces. She also had eight kills and two blocks.

Macy Hendrix served 15 times for Campbell, collecting two aces. She also had 10 assists and three kills.

Hannah Littrell tallied nine points serving for Campbell. She also had two aces, two kills, and two digs.

Caris Foriester had two blocks and two kills for Campbell. Camilla Camargo added one block.

Kaylee Holsten tallied five kills and served eight times for Campbell.

Hailee Burnett collected two ace serves, two kills, and three digs for Campbell.

Campbell (1-0) hosts Kennett Tuesday.
