The St. Vincent High School football season has been put on hold for a couple of weeks due to "a couple cases" related to COVID, according to third-year coach Tim Schumer.

"We had a couple of cases over the weekend and the (Perry County Health Department) has quarantied the entire football team until Sept. 5," Schumer said.

That wiped out Friday's game at Park Hills (Central), as well as the home-opener with Scott City on Sept. 4.

St. Vincent is now scheduled to open the season on Sept. 11 at Valle Catholic.

Schumer said his team can practice "virtually" in the meantime, which consists of individual workouts and meetings on Zoom.

"Hopefully," Schumer said, "we'll get through this (COVID situation) and be ready to go on Sept. 11.
