SENIOR RECOGNITION: Kelly baseball duo reflect on careers with Hawks

With the cancellation of spring athletics for the 2020 season, seniors in the Standard-Democrat coverage are not able to have final moments with their teammates.
Below is the ninth part of a series of stories on recognizing senior athletes, where they are going next, what they loved most about playing their respective sport at their school, and more.
The series continues with the Kelly baseball team. The Hawks had two seniors on the roster.
Other sports, activities, and clubs… Played on the boys’ basketball team; FBLA, Beta Club, FFA, Student Council, Pep Club, Yearbook
Plans after high school… Attending Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Mo., and has an undecided major.
Advice for underclassmen… “Don’t take anything for granted, especially the game that you fell in love with.”

Favorite baseball memory… “Last spring, we were playing East Prairie at home, and we were facing Carson Aycock that day, and I ended up scoring the walk-off run to beat East Prairie 3-2 that day at home.”
What got you interested in baseball… “I always remember playing it from a young age. My parents would take me out in the yard and play catch with me, or they’d take me to the ball diamond and hit me ground balls, plus my mom has been a softball coach my whole life, so that doesn’t hurt either.”
Other sports, activities, and clubs… Played on the boys’ basketball team; Student Council, Yearbook, FBLA, FTA, FCCLA, FFA, Pep Club
Plans after high school… Attending Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo., and majoring in sports management. He is also playing on the baseball team.
Advice for underclassmen… “Just have fun.”
Favorite baseball memory… “Beating East Prairie in the district tournament.”
What got you interested in baseball… “I grew up around it. I played since I was in tee-ball.”
