Dexter boys golf, tennis to compete against same fields in bids to repeat as district champions

MSHSAA posted district assignments for baseball, spring softball, boys golf, boys tennis, as well as track and field on Friday, March 13.

The Bearcats’ boys golf team returns to defend its Class 3 District 1 championship against an identical field of opponents. The district also includes Cape Central, Farmington, Fredericktown, North County, Notre Dame, Park Hills Central, Perryville, Sikeston and Ste. Genevieve.

In boys tennis, two-time defending champion Dexter joins Arcadia Valley, North County, Notre Dame and Sikeston in Class 1 District 1. District members are unchanged from a year ago.

Dexter baseball will compete in Class 4 District 1 alongside Doniphan, Fredericktown, Kennett, Notre Dame, Perryville and Sikeston. The district remains the same as last season except for newcomer Fredericktown.

Dexter track and field will compete in Class 2 District 1, as will Bayless, Bishop DuBourg, Fredericktown, Hancock, Herculaneum, Kennett, Lutheran South, New Madrid County Central, Saxony Lutheran, St. Pius X (Festus) and host squad Ste. Genevieve.

Dexter is a member of Class 1 District 3 in softball. Bernie, Bloomfield, Charleston, East Prairie, Puxico, Richland and Scott County Central complete the district field. East Prairie replaces Oran is this year’s tournament.

Advance and Bell City will join Delta, Leopold, Oak Ridge, Oran, Scott City and Woodland in District 4.

In baseball, Class 2 District 1 features Bernie, Campbell, Holcomb, Portageville, Senath-Hornersville and South Pemiscot.

District 2 includes Bloomfield, Chaffee, Greenville, Meadow Heights, Puxico and Oran, which moves up from Class 1.

Richland returns to Class 1 District 1 with Cooter, Gideon, Naylor, Risco and Southland. District 2 features Advance, Bell City, Delta, Leopold, Oak Ridge and Zalma.

The track and field squads from Bell City and Richland are members of Class 1, District 1.
