Girls SEMO Conference showdown set between Poplar Bluff and Notre Dame
Poplar Bluff picked up its fifth win in a row.
The Mules beat Kennett 61-49 Thursday at Kennett, setting up a SEMO Conference Showdown next Thursday against Notre Dame at Poplar Bluff. Both schools are 6-0 in conference play this season.
Kiley Bess had 24 points to lead the Mules (15-8) after going 14 for 17 on free throws. Abby Turner added 10 points.
Poplar Bluff was 21 for 27 overall from the foul line.
Kennett (12-13, 0-7) scored 13 points in each of the final three quarters as Poplar Bluff steadily extended its lead. The Mules led by four points after the first quarter, five at halftime and eight after the third quarter.
Kyra Jaco had 18 points for Kennett, 12 of that in the first half. Malory Morrow finished with 11 points.
The Mules, who have played just two home games in the past month, next travel to Farmington on Monday. Poplar Bluff is 4-3 in true road games this season.
