Swimming Roundup, Feb. 20

Cape Central junior Ava Duncan and sophomore Bella Dennis paced the Tigers through the opening day of the MSHSAA Class 1 Girl's State Swim Finals at the Rec-Plex in St. Peters.

Duncan swam a time of 59.49 in the 100 backstroke to earn a fifth-place finish in the prelims, while Dennis is seeded seventh in the 100 breaststroke after swimming a time of 1:08.53.

The Tigers 200 medley relay squad finished second with a time of 1:52.16.

The finals are today and the following area swimmers advanced out of Thursday's prelims:
