Dexter boys basketball snaps two-game losing streak, routs Woodland 74-38 in SCAA matchup

The Dexter Bearcats snapped a two-game losing streak and solidified its hold on third place in the SCAA boys basketball standings with a 74-38 victory over Woodland on Monday night at Marble Hill.

The Bearcats improved to 12-8 overall and 4-2 in league play with only one SCAA game remaining. They will host Bell City on Tuesday night and would clinch third place with a victory.

Woodland fell to 4-17 and 2-4.

Bernie and Advance have locked down the top two spots in the standings. Bernie (18-5, 6-0) can win the regular-season championship outright with a win over Richland on Feb. 18. Advance (17-4) completed its conference schedule with a 6-1 record.

Jackson Allen made eight 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 26 points. Andrew Ellinghouse scored 16 points and Peyton Driskill added 10.

Jamon Frymire paced Woodland with 15 points.

Allen sank four 3-pointers in the first quarter and the Bearcats took a 25-8 lead into the second. The Bearcats led 47-19 at halftime and 67-28 after three quarters.
