Gideon receives No. 1 seed in Tri-County Conference boys basketball tournament (bracket included)

The stage is set for the highly anticipated Tri-County Conference varsity boys basketball tournament.

The eight-team tournament takes placed Feb. 10-14 at Clarkton High School.

Tri-County Conference regular-season champion Gideon (17-4), which has won its last 12 games and went 7-0 in conference play, has received the No. 1 seed.

Three-time defending tournament champion Risco (5-2, 11-9) has received the No. 2 seed.

Cooter (5-2, 10-7) is seeded third, Clarkton (4-3, 9-11) is seeded fourth, Holcomb (4-3, 5-14) is seeded fifth, Southland (2-5, 5-15) is seeded sixth, Delta C-7 (2-5, 4-12) is seeded seventh, and North Pemiscot (0-7, 0-19) is seeded eighth.

No. 3 seeded Cooter plays No. 6 seeded Southland Monday at 5:30 p.m. and No. 2 seeded Risco plays No. 7 seeded Delta C-7 Monday at 8:30 p.m. No. 1 seeded Risco plays No. 8 seeded North Pemiscot Tuesday at 4 p.m. and No. 4 seeded Clarkton plays No. 5 seeded Holcomb Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. in quarterfinals.

Semifinals are Feb. 13 at 6 p.m and 7:30 p.m.

The championship is Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m.


Cooter is seeded No. 1 and Clarkton is seeded No. 2 in the junior varsity bracket. Both teams will receive quarterfinal byes.

No. 3 seeded Holcomb plays No. 6 seeded Southland Monday at 4 p.m. and No. 4 seeded North Pemiscot plays No. 5 seeded Delta C-7 Monday at 7 p.m. in quarterfinals

Semifinals are Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

The junior varsity championship is Feb. 14 at 6 p.m.
