Mistavia Murry almost handled Meridian by herself Wednesday in girl’s basketball action.

The Charleston player scored 30 points in helping the Bluejays (9-5) win 68-32.

Murray got help from Ashanti Jones, who added 26 in the win.

The Bluejays are competing in the Scott-Mississippi Conference Tournament this week.

Oran 55, Meadow Heights 33

Oran’s 55-33 girl’s basketball victory Wednesday over Meadow Heights was never in doubt, as the Eagles got off to a fast start and never looked back.

Oran (11-3) opened the game by getting offensive production from six different players, as it built a 22-8 lead by the end of the first period.

The Eagles stretched that advantage to 41-15 by halftime and cruised from there.

Traci Hency, who was the lone Eagle in double figures with 12 points, paced Oran.

Meadow Heights (3-9) got double figures from Gracie Cook (16 points) and Ashley Allen (10).

The Eagles will host Delta tonight at 7:30 p.m., while the Panthers will host Woodland at the same time.

Greenville raced out to a 22-6 first-quarter lead against Puxico Tuesday in girl’s basketball action and eventually won 61-25.

The Bears (3-10) had three players score in double figures, led by Mattie Allen with 22 points, while Abby Hillis and Mackey Marler chipped in 12 and 14 points, respectively.

Kaly Haynes was the lone Indian in double figures with 11 points.

Puxico (0-10) will visit Woodland Monday, while Greenville will host Naylor Tuesday.

The Bobcats exploded for 37 points over the second and third quarters in beating Dexter 53-37 in girl’s basketball action Tuesday.

Holding a 9-6 early second-quarter lead, Thayer raced off to take a 26-15 lead by halftime.

Maddy Kerley hit four 3-pointers to drop 24 on Dexter to pace Thayer, while Alexa Werneck led the Bearcats (3-13) with 16.

Dexter will travel to Doniphan Monday at 6 p.m., while the Bobcats will visit Gainesville Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.

The Eagles (8-6) hit four 3-pointers in the opening period of its boy’s basketball game against Richland and eventually built an 18-12 lead that they would never relinquish, as they won 66-54 Tuesday.

Naylor stretched that margin to 36-25 and 51-41 entering the final period.

Wyatt Yarbrough and Mason Schrimsher combined for 45 points to lead the Eagles, while the Rebels (3-9) got 25 combined points from Damon Ivy and Andrew Partenberry.

Richland will host Leopold tonight at 6 p.m., while Naylor will host Gideon tonight.
