The Miller Career Academy girls basketball team took advantage of strong even-numbered quarters Saturday to beat the Dexter Bearcats 60-43 at the Jackson Showcase.

Sydney Asberry scored seven points and Dulcie Pullen had six in the first quarter where the Bearcats took a 15-13 lead.

The Phoenix outscored Dexter 21-11 in the second quarter to take a 34-26 halftime lead.

The Phoenix (10-3) carried a 42-33 lead into the fourth quarter where it outscored the Bearcats 18-10.

Asberry and Pullen finished with 15 points each to lead Dexter, who fell to 3-12.

Kelsey Harris paced the Phoenix with 17 points.

JV Dexter won 35-30 to improve to 5-1.
