STATESMAN ROUNDUP: Advance girls basketball rallies late to beat East Prairie; Bell City, Bloomfield boys fall on the road
The Advance girls basketball team went 10 of 16 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and rallied to beat the East Prairie Eagles 47-44 Friday night at East Prairie High School.
The Hornets took the early lead, building an 11-4 advantage after one quarter and a 21-17 lead at halftime.
East Prairie (0-8) outscored the Hornets 17-10 in the third quarter to take a 34-31 lead into the fourth.
Alandry Below went 5 for 6 from the free throw line in the fourth and finished with a game-high 35 points. Overall, she sank 18 of 24 free throws.
Danielle Markham added eights for the Hornets, who improved to 9-6.
Malden 62, Bloomfield 25
The Malden boys basketball team came out strong at the beginning of each half and rolled to a 62-25 victory over the Bloomfield Wildcats on Friday night at Malden High School.
The Green Wave (6-8) outscored Bloomfield 17-4 in the first quarter and took a 26-10 lead into halftime. They held a 25-11 scoring edge in the third quarter carried a 51-21 lead into the fourth.
Gage McNeil paced Bloomfield (1-11) with seven points.
Coy Wade led Malden with 23.
Delta 114, Bell City 50
Bell City’s Luke Nichols and Jack Duenne combined for 31 points, but the Delta boys basketball team overpowered the Cubs 114-50 Friday night at Delta.
Nichols scored a team-high 16 points, Duenne scored 15 and Bryson Maddox added 10 for the Cubs, who fell to 2-11.
Isaiah Thomas paced Delta (13-3) with a game-high 22 points.
