SEMO gymnasts notch memorable victory
Dahlia Solorzano Caruso registered three career bests in leading Redhawks gymnasts to a 191.225-190.825 victory over Alaska Anchorage at the Alaska Airlines Center.
The Redhawks posted their first head-to-head triumph since March 9, 2018.
Caruso, a freshman from Ontario, Canada. took honors in vault (9.800), beam (9.900), and the all-around (39.175). Her score on beam tied for fifth all-time in the school’s history.
“Our team showed trust, unity, and grit tonight,” said Southeast head coach Ashley Lawson. “Our beam team was on fire.”
Next up for SEMO gymnastics is Illinois State at Normal, Illinois on Friday.
Coach Lawson anticipates more progress. “This team is hungry, and ready for more. I can’t wait to continue to watch them trust each other, gain confidence and believe in themselves.”
