SD ROUNDUP: Bravettes get revenge, defeat Delta; Oran routs Chaffee

SIKESTON — After falling to Delta in the Delta New Year’s Tournament last Thursday, the two teams met again at Ronnie Cookson Gymnasium at Scott County Central High School on Monday.

Samantha Coffee proved to be a problem for the Bravettes, finishing with a monster double-double, in their 52-46 win over the Lady Bobcats.

Coffee had 10 points, on 3 of 14 shooting, and 25 rebounds to pace Scott County Central to a win.

Micah Adams and Bre’asia Jones were the other two Bravettes to reach double-figures.

Adams had 18 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Jones had 14 points, eight rebounds, and two assists as well.

Ashley White led Delta with 17 points.

ORAN, Mo. — Hope Woodfin led all scorers for Oran on Monday evening against Chaffee.

Woodfin scored 21 points, as the Lady Eagles defeated Chaffee 78-38 at Oran High School.

She had help, though, as Katie Webb added 20 points, and Kaylee Payne finished with 19.

Braelyn Pobst led Chaffee with 12 points.

HOLCOMB, Mo. — Rough starts to the first and third quarters loomed large in the Portageville girls basketball team’s 52-39 loss to Holcomb on Monday.

The Lady Bulldogs got outscored 15-4 in the opening period and 19-4 in the third.

Jauslyn Johnson and Amiyah Saxton were the only Portageville players to reach double-figures in scoring. Saxton finished with 11 points, while Johnson had 10.

Bailey Cupples led Holcomb with 15, while Hannah Burk had 14.

The Portageville junior had 21 points, as the Bulldogs defeated Delta (Deering) 78-34.

Drew Irby added 19 points, while Kelan Bills had 10.

Thomas Watson led the Chargers with 12 points. Maurion Hattiex added 11 points as well.
