Missourian Roundup: Poplar Bluff gets past Cape in swim action

Poplar Bluff captured first in 7-of-11 events to defeat the Cape Central 113 to 57 in girl’s swim action Tuesday at Poplar Bluff.

Central’s Ava Duncan won first in two individual events, the 500 freestyle and 200 IM, and also competed on the second-place 200 medley relay team.

Cape top finishers included:

BOYS BASKETBALL

Oak Ridge 68, Scott City 62

Oak Ridge outscored Scott City 29-25 in the fourth quarter to close out a competitive 68-62 victory Tuesday.

Zach LeGrand and David Layton scored 21 and 20 points, respectively, to pace the Bluejays (5-6).

Scott City (7-5) showcased a balanced attack, led by Camden Conner with 13 points, while Spencer Stratman added 12, Joe Panagos had 10, and Nicolas Hillman scored nine.

Garrett Dobbelare and Charles Sauer led the Indians to the rout with 21 points each, while Shawn Koishor chipped in 19 in the win.

St. Vincent has now won four straight games.

Josh Campbell was the lone bright spot for Bismarck (0-4) as he led all scorers with 22 points.

The Bobcats (11-3) raced out to a 25-14 first-quarter lead and never looked back in beating Meadow Heights 96-58 Tuesday.

Eric Berry led Delta with 31 points and hit five 3-pointers in the win.

Evan Bartels added 17 for Delta, while Colby Crader (16) and Isaiah Thomas (13) also contributed.

Tristen Mayfield dropped 19 and Chase Conrad scored 16 for the Panthers (4-6).
