SD ROUNDUP: Kelly girls basketball wins consolation title at Lady Royals Christmas Classic; Three score in double-figures, as NMCC defeats City University

BROSELEY, Mo. — Alaney Moore scored 26 points for the Kelly girls’ basketball team on Saturday, as the Lady Hawks defeated East Carter 52-48 to win the consolation championship of the Lady Royals Christmas Classic.

Moore led all scorers, while Allison Owens pitched in with 14 points of her own. Allison Riley finished with nine, while Mallory Glastetter had eight to round-out the totals.

For East Carter, Brooklyn Kearbey led the team with 24 points. She was the only Lady Redbird to reach double-digits in scoring.

Naomi Crowley finished with eight, while Kennedy Thies had six, and Audrey Carter and Hailey Brown each had four. Makenna Moore rounded out the book for East Carter, with two.

Boys Basketball

NMCC 55, City University 37

WELLSTON, Mo. — Three players paced the way for the New Madrid County Central boys’ basketball team on Saturday, as the Eagles earned third-place honors at the Normandy Holiday Invitational.

Donnie Ray Brown scored a team-high 14 points, while Christen Phillips had 13 and Shamar Williamson finished with 11, in the Eagles 55-37 win over City University (TN).

Ke’von Williams added eight points, while Bryshawn Williams had four, Ansel Underwood three, and Jaden McFerren two.
