Dexter's Waldner wins weight class; Bearcats place sixth at Tiger Classic wrestling tournament

Dexter senior Travis Waldner won his weight class Saturday at the Tiger Classic wrestling tournament at Cape Girardeau.

Waldner won the 170-pound weight class, beating Conrad Clutter, of Northwest (Cedar Hill), 11-4 in the title match. He went 6-0 in the two-day tournament to improve to 16-0.

The Bearcats finished sixth in the 16-team invitational with 160 points. Jackson won the title with 361. The Bearcats finished seven points behind fifth-place Cape Central.

Mason Keena made his season debut and finished fourth in the 145-pound class. Bryston Pemberton was fourth at 120 pounds.

Wyatt Parker placed fifth at 132. Drew Soule was sixth at 138. Bradyn Crockett was seventh at 285.

CJ Greene (126), Shawn Robards (220), Alex Townsend (160) and Parker Vanslyke (182) finished ninth in their weight classes.

Caleb Coons placed 10th at 195 pounds, and Eric Harmon (113) and Dylan Homan (152) placed 11th.
