STATESMAN ROUNDUP: Gideon boys basketball takes charge in middle two quarters, beats Richland 80-62

The Gideon boys basketball team outscored Richland 47-31 over the middle two quarters to beat the Rebels 80-62 Friday night at Essex.

Gideon held a 17-15 lead after one quarter but extended its advantage to 38-30 after two and 64-46 after three.

Damon Ivy paced Richland with 12 points. Tanner Freeman, Andrew Partenberry and Shai Sherfield scored 11 points each. Freeman made three 3-pointers.

Brevin Vires, Sam Williams and Logan Woodard scored 17 points apiece to lead Gideon. Woodard made five 3-pointers.

Richland fell to 1-4, and Gideon improved to 5-3.
