SD ROUNDUP: Park Hills Central routs Sikeston girls basketball; Jones, Murray dominate against Malden
PARK HILLS, Mo. — A lackluster second-quarter spurned the Sikeston girls basketball team on Thursday against Park Hills Central.
After trailing by one point after the first quarter, Sikeston got outscored 25-14 in the second, in the Lady Bulldogs 76-46 loss to the Rebels.
Taydrianna Barnett finished with 20 points for Sikeston (1-4) while Armani Hodges had 14, and Amyari Blissett finished with 10. Karris Allen added two points to round out the scoring.
Sophia Horton had a game-high 26 points for Park Hills Central, while Avery Norris finished with 16. Kaley Kimball and Jessica Hulsey each added 11, while Abbygail Holmes and Madison Holmes both had four. Aubree Eaton finished with two as well.
Charleston 72, Malden 49
CHARLESTON, Mo. — Mistavia Murray and Ashanti Jones had their way with Malden on Thursday night.
Murray scored 30 points, while Jones didn’t have a bad night in her own right, scoring 29, in Charleston’s 72-49 win over Malden at Charleston High School.
Teyarah Williams added seven points, while Jorianna Mixon had five, and Zion Jones and Zakiyah Ware each finished with two.
Senior Arionne Ross led Malden with 16 points. Shamya Dobbins finished with nine points, while Jada Townsend added eight, Madison Mittag seven, Madison Saulsbery five, and Brydon Maddox four.
Chaffee 53, Portageville 43
PORTAGEVILLE, Mo. — A pair of Portageville Lady Bulldogs finished in double-figures Thursday night against Chaffee.
Garielle Madison finished with 12 points, while Jauslyn Johnson had 10, in the Lady Bulldogs 53-43 loss to Chaffee at Portageville High School.
Hailey Tipler added eight points, while Amiyah Saxton had seven, and Chrissy Thomas had six.
Brooke Kilburn and Jayden Welch led Chaffee with 12 each. Lilly Wessel finished with 11, while Ashtyn Rains had nine, and Braelyn Pobst had two.
NMCC 63, Twin Rivers 48
BROSELEY, Mo. — It was another stellar night for New Madrid County Central’s Shakyra Wright on Thursday.
Wright had 23 points, as the Lady Eagles defeated Twin Rivers 63-48.
Jimmya Caldwell-Newsom and Ayannah Ruff each added 15 as well, while Mastajah Walker had six, and Allisia Hester and Isis Ducker each had two.
Abbey Hester finished with a team-high 19 for Twin Rivers, while Breanna South had 18. Madysn Foust finished with six, while Drew Love had three, and Jaylynn Williams had two.
Freshman Boys Basketball
Jackson 58, Sikeston 53
JACKSON, Mo. — The Sikeston freshman boys basketball team battled with Jackson on Thursday but fell 58-53.
Creighton Sarakas led the Bulldogs with 17 points, while Justis Taylor had 13. Brayon Hamilton finished with eight, while Trayvon Dukes had six, Joe Alexander four, and Harrison Arndt, Brendon Hamilton, and Malachi Kellum two.
