Holcomb & Campbell advance to championship of Bloomfield Invitational girls basketball tournament

BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - The No. 3 seeded Campbell Camels are set to meet the No. 4 seeded Holcomb Hornets for a second time at the Bloomfield Invitational varsity girls basketball tournament after both squads collected semifinal wins Wednesday night.

Defending champion Holcomb upset the No. 2 seeded Advance Hornets 61-32 in the first semifinal Wednesday.

Holcomb enjoyed a 32-10 lead by halftime and led by double digits throughout the second half.

Bailey Cupples scored seven 2-point baskets in the paint to pace Holcomb with 14 points.

Macy Houart also finished in double digits for the Hornets with 12 points. She hit half of her teamís four treys.

Alandry Below paced Advance with 14 points. She scored 11 points after halftime.

Danielle Markham also finished in double digits for the Advance with a dozen points. She hit three of her teamís four treys.

Holcomb will play Campbell in the title game Thursday at 8 p.m. Holcomb beat Campbell 68-47 in a opening-round contest at the six-team tournament Monday.

The No. 3 seeded Campbell Camels jumped out to a 22-4 lead after one quarter on its way past the No. 1 seeded Senath-Hornersville Lions 54-43 in the nightcap semifinal Wednesday at Bloomfield.

Macy Hendrix tallied eight of her team-high 15 points for Campbell in the first quarter.

Madisyn Townsend added 14 points for the Camels. She knocked down three of her teamís four treys.

Gabrielle Nielson made five of six free throw attempts. Nielson scored nine points for the Camels.

Adrianna Person hit one 2-pointer in every quarter. She finished with eight points for Campbell.

Accountess Lewis recorded at least one field goal in every quarter to pace Senath-Hornersville with 16 points.

Aubry Jones also finished in double digits for the Lions. She scored a dozen of her 14 points after halftime.
