Oran, Notre Dame hoopsters earn Semoball honor

Oran High School boyís basketball player Ty Johnson not only excelled on the court last week, he also did so on the world wide web.

Johnson garnered 429 votes to earn the Semoball Basketball Male Athlete of the Week honor.

Johnson scored 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a recent game against Kelly in the Oran Invitational championship game.

Campbellís Blake Fowler had 331 votes, while St. Vincentís Garrett Dobbelare (163), Notre Dameís Caleb LeGrand (92) and Kennettís Kobe Gates (87) trailed.

In the girlís voting, Notre Dameís Delaney Dohogne received 290 votes to win the honor.

Dohogne helped the Bulldogs win the SEMO Conference Tournament title in a rout of Jackson.

She barely surpassed the 257 votes earned by Sikestonís Taydrianna Barnett, while Haytiís Amiya Johnson (139), Ellingtonís Kaylee King and Cape Centralís Taylor Horton (six votes each) trailed.
