Missourian Roundup: Jackson swimmers prevail in area tri-meet

The Jackson Indians, Cape Central Tigers, and Farmington Knightettes all finished within nine points of each other in girls swim tri-meet.

Jackson won the meet with a score of 142 with Cape Central ending at 137 and Farmington at 133.

Cami Brazel and Courtney Huckabee finished first in two individual events to lead the way for Jackson. Brazel won the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly and Huckabee took home the 500 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke. Cape Central had no first-place finishers in individual events but won two relays.

The Bobcats broke triple digits as they defeated the Blue Jays on the road.

Delta's (5-1) leading scorer was Evan Bartels with 20 points. Isaiah Thomas (19), Colby Crader (18) and Eric Berry followed closely behind. Oak Ridge (2-2) had two players crack 30 points as David Layton had 33 and Zach LeGrand had 31 in the loss.

Mason Deck had 22 points to lead Leopold (3-1). Caleb Schaab and Cameron Abernathy each scored 14 points for the Wildcats. Woodland (1-4) also had a pair of 14-point scorers as Trent Braswell and Cecil Abernathy led the Cardinals.

The Rams pulled away from the Blackcats in the third quarter to pick up a double-digit home win over the Blackcats.

Joe Panagos paced Scott City (3-1) in scoring with 18 points. Camden Connor finished just behind at 16 points. Kaden Mouser had 15 points and five threes for the Rams.
