DDD ROUNDUP: Malden boys basketball edges Twin Rivers 54-49
BROSELEY, Mo. - The Malden Green Wave varsity boys basketball squad enjoyed a strong start to each half as it won at Twin Rivers 54-49 Tuesday night.
Malden (2-2) led 13-6 after one quarter, 28-20 at halftime, and 43-33 at the end of the third quarter before Twin Rivers won the final quarter by five points.
Marques Jones continued to dominate in the paint for the Green Wave. Jones recorded a team-high nine 2-pointers on his way to a game-high 20 points.
Sientez Lerma and Coy Wade also scored in double digits for the Green Wave. Lerma scored 10 of his 13 points in the first half and Wade recorded nine of his 11 points in the second quarter.
Eight players recorded at least one field goal for Twin Rivers.
Jolby Jones was the only player to score in double digits for the Royals. He finished with a dozen points.
Twin Rivers (2-2) visits Bloomfield Friday.
Malden's home opener is Friday against Campbell.
