Notre Dame to visit John Burroughs for Class 2 boys soccer quarterfinal

Notre Dame (16-5-1) will visit John Burroughs (20-1-1) at 1 p.m. Saturday in a Class 2 quarterfinal soccer game in west St. Louis County.

The Bombers, the District 4 champions, are ranked second in Class 2 in the most recent Missouri Soccer Coaches Poll. They have numerous dangerous weapons on offense, with Jackson Miller, Vic Williams, John Cordia, Austin Isaak, and the Kumar twins -- Ritvak and Rishav -- leading the way in scoring.

Notre Dame, the District 1 champions, are ranked fourth in Class 2. The Bulldogs advanced to the Class 2 quarterfinals with a 6-1 home victory Wednesday over Lutheran South, as freshman Will Dodson and senior Griffin Stewart each tallied two goals. The victory extended the Bulldogs' winning streak to five games. Notre has outscored its three postseason opponents -- St. Pius X, Perrryille and Lutheran South -- 13-1.

The Bombers reached the quarters by blanking Metro, 8-0, in the sectional round. John Burroughs' only loss this season has been to top-ranked Priory, the champions of Class 2 District 5. The Bombers are on a seven-game winning streak in which they have outscored opponents 36-1.
