MISSOURIAN ROUNDUP: Saxony Lutheran soccer falls to North County
The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders could not keep the North County Raiders from putting the ball in the back of the net, losing 4-2 on the road in boys soccer Tuesday.
Paul Adams led the Saxony (7-9) offense, scoring a goal on an indirect free kick and assisting on the Crusaders' other goal. Garrett Richey found the back of the net off the Adams' feed.
Saxony will wrap up its regular season Thursday at Farmington.
Advance 25 25, St. Vincent 13 10
Senior Roz Schrader nailed 10 kills as the defending Class 1 state champion Hornets inched closer to notching their 30th win of the season in the sweep of the Indians at home on Senior Night.
Alyssa Miles hammered six kills for Advance (29-2) and Alandry Below dished out 24 assists. Nyah Wilson tallied seven digs and five kills for the Hornets while Meadow Morse posted six digs and five kills.
Advance wraps up its regular season on Friday in a crucial conference matchup at Woodland, where a win will give the Hornets the outright regular-season SCAA Conference title. Advance will also be hosting the Class 1 District 3 Tournament next week.
It was the sixth-straight loss for St. Vincent (6-15-5), which closes out its regular season today when it hosts Leopold.
Zalma 25 25, Marquand-Zion 13 11
The Bulldogs downed the winless Tigers again to notch their first and only conference win of the season in the road victory.
Zalma (9-16-2, 1-3 Mississippi Valley Conference) will host Clearwater on Thursday for its Senior Night.
Marquand-Zion (0-17, 0-4) will also end its regular season on Thursday against Southern Reynolds (Ellington).

SEMO Conference Tournament
Jackson was the only team not to drop a set in Tuesday's opening round of pool play in the SEMO Conference Tournament at the Cape Girardeau SportsPlex.
The Indians (23-8-3) posted straight-set victories over Sikeston (25-10, 25-10), Poplar Bluff (25-22, 25-20), Cape Girardeau Central (25-20, 25-15) and Notre Dame (26-24, 25-17) to finish with a flawless 8-0 record in the North Division, mirroring their performance in league play during the regular season.
Central, which finished fourth in the regular-season conference, came out second in the North Division pool with a 5-3 record. The Tigers (18-10-2) split with Notre Dame (25-19, 17-25) and then swept Poplar Bluff (25-23, 25-23) and Sikeston (25-22, 25-12).
Notre Dame, which claimed second place in regular season, finished third in the North Division pool with an even 4-4 record. The Bulldogs (17-8-6) split with Poplar Bluff (25-27, 25-22) and beat Sikeston (25-09, 25-09) in addition to their split with Central and loss to Jackson. The Mules (17-12-2) came out fourth in the pool following their 25-19, 25-20 victory over Sikeston (9-21), which did not win a single set.
In the South Division, Kennett (16-8-3) posted a 7-1 record to come out on top. Scott City recorded a 6-2 record to finish second in the pool and ended their 10-game losing streak at the same time. The Rams (6-21-2) finished ahead of Oran (6-16-3) , which went 4-4 for third, and New Madrid County Central (10-15-2) finished 3-5 in fourth and Charleston (4-22-1) in fifth, which also did not win a single set.
