SD ROUNDUP: Lovel scores in Sikeston boys soccer’s loss; Kelly softball gets shut-out by Jackson

SIKESTON — Jacob Lovel was the lone goal scorer for the Sikeston boys soccer team on Tuesday against Carterville, Ill.

Lovel scored on a pass from Josh McClendon, but the Bulldogs fell 7-1.

Sikeston (0-20) hosts Perryville on Thursday, in the final regular season match of the season.

Farmington 4, Sikeston 1

SIKESTON — Andrew Faire scored the only goal for the Sikeston boys soccer team on Monday, against Farmington.

The Bulldogs fell to the Knights 4-1.

Sikeston (0-19) hosted Carterville on Tuesday and faces Perryville on Thursday.

Jackson 6, Kelly 0

JACKSON, Mo. — Sierra Burch got on base all three of her times at bat, including a double, as the Indians wrapped up their regular season with a conference win at home over the Hawks.

Karli Johnson got the complete-game win in the circle for Jackson (16-8, 6-2 SEMO Conference). She retired five batters and walked three.

Kelly Ivy also pitched a whole game to suffer the loss for Kelly (17-11, 3-5). She surrendered five earned runs and walked three batters with no strikeouts.

Oran 2, Charleston 0

ORAN, Mo. — Kaylee Payne and Traci Hency led the charge for the Oran volleyball team on Tuesday against Charleston.

Payne finished with a team-high five kills, while Hency had four, in Oran’s straight-set win over the Bluejays.

Oran (4-13-3) won 25-15 and 25-17.

NMCC 2, Scott City 1

NEW MADRID, Mo. — Colby Vaughn ended her final match at home with a bang.

Vaughn finished with a team-high eight kills, in the New Madrid County Central volleyball team’s three-set win over Scott City, on Tuesday.

Mastajah Walker and Jenny Duncan pitched in with five kills each, as the Eagles won 22-25, 25-21, 25-10.
