DAR ROUNDUP: Clearwater BASEBALL surges in late innings to beat Woodland

CLEARWATER 10, WOODLAND 3

Ahead 1-0 going into the fourth inning, the Tigers (9-2) scored in each of the final four innings to score 10 runs on 12 hits.

Karson Fay was 3 for 3 with three runs, a double and an RBI as Clearwater’s leadoff hitter. Gage Keller tripled and was 3 for 3 with three RBIs and a run. Trey Rivas doubled and drove in two runs while Jackson Eaton scored twice.

Gage Keller pitched in teh win and allowed nine hits and two walks with five strikeouts.

SOFTBALL

KELLY 18, DONIPHAN 13

In a game with 39 combined hits and eight total errors, the Donettes (7-12) jumped out to a 7-0 lead after two innings, but any hope for a short game was dashed after Kelly tied the game heading into the bottom of the fourth, then scored four runs in the fifth and four in the sixth to take a 17-9 lead going into the seventh inning.

Doniphan’s first three batters in the lineup were a combined 11 for 12 with 10 runs, and Sydnie Speck, who hits fifth, was 4 for 5 with three runs and three RBIs.

Leadoff hitter Jaylin Dutton was 5 for 6 with three runs, Olivia Cruetz, hitting behind her, was 4 for 4 with four runs, and No. 3 batter Madison Eddington was 2 for 2 with three runs, three walks, a hone run, a triple and five RBIs.

CROSS COUNTRY

Dexter’s Margo Nea finished second in 19 minutes, 45 seconds at the Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday and East Carte’s Kennedy Thies was seventh (20:37).

Bloomfield’s only runner Johnna Costigan finished 91st (25:56), and Puxico’s only runner Bushra Iqbal was 118th (33:39).

Among the top finishers in the boys race, Dexter’s Carter Dorton finished 15th (17:40), and fellow Bearcat Gavin Cartwright was 31st in 18:38.

Jagger Robinson led Greenville in 36th (18:48), and Ethan Helm led Puxico in 72nd (20:03).

Bloomfield’s sole runner Nick Carter finished 69th (19:57), and East Carter’s sole runner Colby Duckett was 97th (20:46).
