Southeast Missouri State volleyball defeats Austin Peay in five sets

The Redhawks won the first two sets, 25-21 and 29-27, dropped the next two sets, 20-25 and 27-29, before prevailing in a fifth set that had nine ties and five lead changes, 15-13.

The Redhawks set a program record with 21 blocks in the match, with Maggie Adams leading the way with a career-high 10. Krista Berns and Mikayla Kuhlmann had six blocks apiece.

Annie Wehrheim led Southeast (20-7 overall, 2-1 OVC) with 21 kills, while Laney Malloy had 15 kills and 22 digs. Tara Beilsmith had a team-high 26 digs, and Claire Ochs dished out a season-high 54 assists.

Brooke Moore paced Austin Peay (4-13, 2-1) with 19 kills.

The Redhawks return to action Saturday with a 6 p.m. road match against Murray State.
