Kennett cross country team takes fifth at Arcadia Valley Invitational; Kennett's Kobe Patterson medals
IRONTON, Mo. - The Kennett Indians cross country team placed fifth at the Arcadia Valley Invitational Saturday.
Kennett posted a team score of 155. Potosi (65) placed first, North County (109) was second, Arcadia Valley (126) finished third, and Poplar Bluff (143) came in fourth. Dexter (162) took sixth, West County (167) was seventh, St. Clair (169) finished eighth, Windsor (181) placed ninth, Delta (195) came in 10th, Bloomfield (256) took home 11th, Puxico (293) recorded 12th, and Grandview (309) brought home 13th.
Kennett’s Kobe Patterson took fifth overall with a time of 18:13.45. Poplar Bluff’s Jaden Deaton won the meet with a time of 17:05.90.
Kennett’s Jaden Yates (20:00.34) placed 33rd, Kennett’s Larry Payne (20:18.92) was 38th, Kennett’s Brett Bradley (21:29.11) finished 63rd, and Kennett’s Carson Blansett (22:05.54) came in 78th.
“I thought our guys ran hard for the first meet of the year,” Kennett cross country coach Fred Garmon said. “The course up there was very flat so our times were decent. We really wanted to get two or three guys in the Top 30. We weren’t able to get that our first meet so we are going to make sure we are grinding hard this week to get ready for our next meet at Cape Central.”
Kennett is back in action Sept. 21 when it competes at the Cape Central Invitational.
