Dexter's Nea breaks own school record at Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic

Dexter senior Margo Nea broke her own school record Saturday at the Memphis Twilight Cross Country Classic at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex in Memphis, Tennessee.

In the 3.1-mile varsity girls race, Nea finished 12th out of 263 runners in 20 minutes, 0.75 seconds. Her previous record was 20:03.82, set at last year’s district meet.

The Bearcats finished 24th in the 35-team field with 710 points. Daviess County (Kentucky) won with 84.

In the varsity boys race, Dexter finished 32nd in the 42-team field with 877 points. Huntsville (Alabama) won the team championship with 40.

Evan Allen, a senior from Chester County (Tennessee), won the 318-person race in 15:26.26.

Carter Dorton was Dexter’s top finisher. He placed 76th in 18:06.48.

For Dexter, Gavin Cartwright was 165th (19:43.08), Chris Stone 225th (20:53.09), Clayton Bell 247th (21:30.72), Andrew Ellinghouse 248th (21:31.44), Wyatt Parker 286th (22:49.61), Jackson Christian 292nd (23:04.75) and Alex Cornelison 294th (23:22.08),

Ciara O’Shea, a freshman from Madison Central (Kentucky), won the varsity girls race in 18:07.17.

For Dexter, Gabby Brown was 124th (24:14.14), Sophia Chasteen 222nd (27:47.44), Alanie Lacy 224th (27:54.35), Maddie Slaton 246th (30:18.60) and Jaycee Chappell 257th (34:14.29).
