Catfish extend winning streak to eight games

The Cape Catfish started the last one-third its season the same way it ended the first two-thirds: winning.

Andrew Stone led off the game with a home run, and a combined solid pitching effort helped the Catfish blank the Normal CornBelters 6-0 Thursday at the Corn Crib in Normal, Illinois.

The Catfish extended their winning streak to eight games.

For Stone, it was his 11th homer of the year as Cape (33-13) led 1-0 after one inning.

In the fifth inning, Prospect League All-Star Jackson Campbell scored on a Curtis Washington Jr. sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. Hanna then delivered a bases-clearing double to open a 5-0 lead. Hanna led the way going 2-for-3 with three RBIs

Aaron Bunnel pitched two innings for the win. He allowed no runs, no hits and struck out two.

Starting pitcher Tommy Springer was just as dominant, going four solid innings. He struck out five and allowed one hit.

Normal fell to 16-30.

The Catfish continue their road trip with a game at DuPage today at 7:05 p.m.
