Southeast Missouri State baseball records 4-1 victory over McKendree

Six Southeast Missouri State pitchers combined for a five-hitter as the Redhawks defeated Division II McKendree University 5-1 on Tuesday at Capaha Field.

The victory was the third straight for Southeast, which improved to 19-23 overall.

The Redhawks led the entire game, scoring two unearned runs in the first inning on a two-run single by A. Nelson.

Hunter Southerland added RBI singles in the second and fourth innings for a 4-0 lead, before McKendree (9-32) scored its lone run in the seventh.

Southeast starter Daniel Lloyd (1-2), a redshirt junior, pitched the first two innings for his first win at Southeast. He allowed two hits and walked one.

He was followed by pitchers Matt Cook, Wesley Pyles, Nathan Bock, Blake Cisneros and Keegan Meyn.

Southerland had two of the Redhawks' six hits.

Southeast opens a three-game non-conference series Friday at Purdue University.
