Dexter boys golf takes second at P.B. Invitational, Warren finishes third individually
The Dexter Bearcats placed second in the Poplar Bluff Invitational boys golf tournament Monday at Westwood Hills Country Club.
The Bearcats shot 316, 31 strokes behind Jackson, which shot a program-best 18-hole score of 285. Poplar Bluff was third with 320.
Dexter junior Spencer Warren finished third with an even-under 71, finishing two strokes behind Jackson’s Case Englehart who shot 69 to win the tournament. Jackson’s Carsen Silliman was second with 70.
“Spencer hit 17 greens today and just needed a few more putts to fall,” Dexter coach Eric Sitze said, “but he was right there with Case.”
Dylan Sitze’s 80, Cy Worley’s 82 and Ryan Collier’s 83 completed Dexter’s team score.
“We hung in there today,” Eric Sitze said. “Ryan and Cy didn’t have very good front-nine scores but stayed after it and had solid back nines for us.”
