Kennett’s Brett Bradley competes in a relay at Metz Cherry Stadium in Kennett earlier this season. The Kennett Invitational is Tuesday at 4 p.m.

The annual Kennett Invitational track and field meet is slated to take place Tuesday at the newly resurfaced track at Metz Cherry Stadium in Kennett.

According to a press release, TRXC Timing will provide meet management, automatic timing, photo finishes, and online meet results for the first time at a Kennett meet. TRXC’s involvement means all performance times, distances, and heights will be certified and meet results will have instant credibility when compared to meets around the state.

Kennett, which was a powerhouse in track in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, is eyeing its first district title since 1992 under third-year head track coach Andrew Webster.

The Kennett boys, which won the SEMO Conference South Championship last season, has won its first two meets this spring. The Kennett boys won the Eva G. Hinshaw Invitational at East Prairie by 65.5 points on Mar. 28 and won the Malden Invitational by 124 points on Apr. 2.

The Kennett girls have also enjoyed their fair share of success this spring. Led by high jump record holder Antonia Randle, the Kennett girls placed fourth at the Eva G. Hinshaw Invitational and second at the Malden Invitational.

The Indians hope a large and enthusiastic crowd will come out to enjoy the competition on Tuesday. Field events begin at 3:45 and running events begin at 4 p.m.
