DDD ROUNUP: Malden softball beats Kennett 7-6 in walk-off fashion

SOFTBALL

MALDEN, Mo. - The Malden Green Wave rallied from a 6-2 deficit to knock off state-ranked Kennett 7-6 late Friday night.

Malden scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie things up at 6-6 and another run in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure a walk-off victory.

The Green Wave plated their final run after Hailey Rojas collected a one-out double and Hope Hartman followed with an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Hartman went the distance in the circle for Malden. She allowed six runs (two earned), six hits, struck out 11, and walked five in a seven-inning 149-pitch outing.

Emillie Johnson also went the distance in the circle for Kennett. She allowed seven runs (four earned), 10 hits, struck out three, and walked two in 6 1/3 innings work. She threw 92 pitches.

Baylee Johnson, Krista Hilfiker, and Arysa Bristow each collected an RBI for Malden.

Kyra Jaco finished 2 for 4 with one RBI for Kennett. Anelle Harris and Jaden Yates also drove home a run for the Indians.

Malden (4-2) also beat Campbell 6-5 Friday night. Malden hosts Bernie Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Kennett (4-3) visits No. 1 ranked Scott City Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Kennett 16, Campbell 0

MALDEN, Mo. - The Kennett Indians softball team run-ruled Campbell 16-0 in three innings Friday at Malden.

Kennett scored two runs in the first inning, seven runs in the second inning, and seven more runs in the third inning.

Anelle Harris pitched all three innings for Kennett. She allowed no runs, one hit, struck out three, and walked two.

Harris, who hit a home run, finished 3 for 3 with a team-high five RBIs. Jaden Yates had a hit and three RBIs for the Indians. Sydni McAtee and Audrey Phillips also both had a hit and two RBIs for Kennett.

Kyra Jaco, Caroline Byers, Katie Hurst, and Natalie Morrow added one RBI each for Kennett.

Hannah Littrell hit a double in the top of the first inning to account for Campbellís only hit.

Holcomb 15, North Pemiscot 0

HOLCOMB, Mo. - The Holcomb Hornets softball team improved to 4-0 in Tri-County Conference play with a 15-0 home victory against North Pemiscot Friday.

Holcomb scored five runs in the first inning, six runs in the second inning, and four runs in the third inning.

Bailey Cupples hit two triples and a double for Holcomb. She finished with 3 for 3 with two RBIs.

Cupples also pitched all three innings in the circle. She allowed one hit, struck out four and walked two. Cupples three 60 pitches.

Koehler had North Pemiscotís only hit.

Jayden Kendrick finished 2 for 3 with a team-high three RBIs for Holcomb. Alyssa Brown and Montana Long also drove home a run for the Hornets.

Holcomb (5-0) has won all four of its conference games by the run-rule. Holcomb also beat Risco 21-3 on Mar. 15, Cooter 13-3 on Mar. 18, and Delta C-7 18-0 on Mar. 19. The Hornets are off until Apr. 1 when they visit Southland.

Kennett 5, North County 2

KENNETT, Mo. - The Kennett Indians baseball team jumped out to a 2-0 lead after three innings of play and hung on to beat North County 5-2 late Friday night.

Kennett scored a single run in the first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. North County tallied run in the top of the fourth and seventh frames.

Marshall Brown pitched the first five innings for the Kennett. He allowed one earned run, three hits, struck out five and walked zero.

Kobe Gates pitched the final two innings for Kennett. He allowed one earned run, two hits, struck out one, and walked one.

Bodey Ellis, Payton Heinley, and Reese Robinett each drove home a run for Kennett. Gates finished 2 for 4 with a team-high two RBIs.

Kennett (4-1) visits Malden Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Neelyville 13, Holcomb 6

NEELVILLE, Mo. - The Holcomb Hornets baseball team jumped out to a 3-0 lead but eventually fell to the Neelyville Tigers 13-6 Friday.

Neelyville (1-5) scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning to move ahead 7-3 and increased its lead to 10-3 by the end of the fourth inning.

Burton collected the victory on the hill for Neelyville. He allowed five runs (four earned, four hits, struck out eight, and walked five in a five-inning 92-pitch outing. Ennis pitched the final two innings for Neelyville.

All four Holcomb pitchers utilized allowed at least three runs.

Holcomb (2-2) plays at Portageville Tuesday at 2 p.m. and plays Chaffee at Portageville Tuesday at 4 p.m.
